70th Annual Sturgis Rally
The 70th Sturgis Rally is right around the corner. August 9th – 15th. Do you have a place to stay? If not, here are a few tips:
Tip #1. Book now! Consider your budget, location and type of lodging. There are campgrounds, hotels or homes to rent. Most are booked so call today. Do you want to be in the heart of the rumble or in an outlying secluded location?
Tip #2. If you plan to go with a group, consider renting a house. I looked at VRBO, http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/south-dakota and was able found a cabin in the woods only 6 minutes from Deadwood and 20 minutes from Sturgis. Otherwise, try one of these, http://www.sturgis.com/hotelmotel.html
Tip #3. Consider arriving a few days before or stay a little longer and save a few bucks on prime lodging prices and have a safe amount of riding room. We are going from Wednesday to Wednesday.
Tip #4. Negotiate on price. Since our group opted for the Wednesday to Wednesday travel dates, we are technically not staying in a cabin during prime time. Only partially, I saved us $700 by asking. The homeowner can then rent out the other half of the week and still make their “Sturgis Fee.” A Win-Win situation for everyone.
