Community Spotlight: Evansville, WI

If you’ve lived in the Madison area for any length of time, you’ve probably become familiar with some of the surrounding suburbs. These smaller communities can offer the best of both worlds if you’re willing to take on a small commute to work every day. You can benefit from the close knit community of a small town, while being just a short drive from all of the amenities that a large city offers.

One city that fills this niche is Evansville, WI. Located just a short drive south of Madison, Evansville is one of the fastest growing communities in Rock county. It’s convenient location as a mid-point between Madison and Janesville means that you are close to two large cities, and all that they have to offer. Evansville has also been voted one of the best cities for young families in Wisconsin.

“Evansville is the smallest town in the top 10, but it has a lot of qualities that bigger towns may envy. With its blend of affordability (median home values of $163,400 are 20% below the top 10 average), family friendliness (families with children under 18 make up 31.3% of households) and its beautifully preserved historic downtown, Evansville has all the qualities of an idyllic Midwest town.”

Evansville may be a small community, but a visit to their city website, or a peek at their latest promotional video reveals no shortage of pride in their city.

Don’t just take their word for it though – one of our very own Restaino employees makes their home in Evansville. Despite some initial apprehension (after living in Madison for 7 years) her family has fully embraced their new community and “small town vibe”. When asked what she loves about living in Evansville, she painted an endearing picture:

“The charm of this little town starts in the brick-paved Main Street and extends to the Piggly Wiggly at the end of town, where you are always bound to run into a friendly face. Everything in between is packed full of local business that you can’t help but want to support. Mama Rita’s for the best pizza, Blu’s, your stop for frozen yogurt,  Real Coffee at Daun for great coffee, and the cutest addition to our town – The Grove Market, featuring locally sourced products, great food, and good people. Local business supporting local business, what more do you need!”
